In Mists of Pandaria, companion pets and mounts will be usable account-wide.
With the coming expansion, Mists of Pandaria, players will be able to share mounts and companion pets across their entire account; account-wide usability means that any companion pets or mounts that you may have on your alternate character(s) will show up for your main character as well. A really nice use to this future mechanic is to complete all of the Children's Week quests several times, on multiple characters. In order to obtain all of the Children's Week companion pets, each time a player completes a Children's Week quest chain, he/she should be sure to choose a different companion pet than one that he/she has chosen before on another character.
World of Warcraft Quests
The original Children's Week quests will need to be completed at least four times, one time on each character. The following pets are obtainable by completing the quests:
The Burning Crusade Quests
The quests added in The Burning Crusade must also be completed at least four times, one time on each character. The following companion pets are rewarded upon completion of the Children's Week quest chain:
Wrath of the Lich King Quests
Unlike the other quests, the Wrath of the Lich King quests only have to be completed twice, one on each character. The quests have two possible companion pets to obtain upon completion:

At the moment, the information documented in this topic is an exploit. Once Mists of Pandaria goes live, it could be considered a guide. Realistically, since it is assumed that Mists of Pandaria will be released before Children's Week occurs once more, this topic should be moved to the guides section after May 5, 2012.
