Then the following showed up in chat:
13:59:56] Elder Clearwater yells: The Kalu'ak Fishing Derby has begun! The first person to bring a blacktip shark to me in Dalaran will be declared the winner! Blacktip sharks can be caught anywhere you can catch a pygmy suckerfish.
[14:00:01] Elder Clearwater yells: The Kalu'ak Fishing Derby has ended! If you caught a shark, please bring it to me within the hour.
[14:00:02] Elder Clearwater yells: Dolemen has won the Kalu'ak Fishing Derby! What I think happened is that The guy who won, went to a zone that used east coast time, so the shark was available in the pools an hour before the contest. Then he just went to Dalaran and as soon as Dalaran hit 2:00 he turned in his shark.
I don't know if this will be possible for todays fishing tournament, because I am not sure if all of STV is in the same shared zone time or not, but if it is not, and if your Booty Bay time happens to be on a non-east cost server, then you should be able to go to a zone in STV that is east coast time, start fishing for your 40 fish and then once you have them go to Booty Bay and turn them in as soon as Booty Bay hits 2:00.
I checked, and at least on my server, all of STV is in the same time zone, so this won't work for the Sunday fishing contest.
There were a lot of pissed people in trade chat yesterday (Saturday) after the insta-win posted above, so I'm guessing many of those people opened tickets. If that's the case then next Saturday's contest will probably not be able to be insta-won like that. But, just in case, I am going to scout the zones before hand and find a zone where the fish become available before the the contest starts in Dalaran.
